Privacy Policy

Summary

Pitaka is a personal finance and debt app. It has no accounts and no Pitaka server that stores your finances. Your data lives on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage. We cannot see it.

Who we are

Pitaka is published by Pitaka, Philippines ("we", "us"). Contact: support@contact.getpitaka.app.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter stays on your device: transactions, accounts, budgets, debts, payoff plans, recurring items, reminders, your hero name and progress.

• Your app PIN is stored as a hash in the iOS Keychain. We never see it. Face ID is handled by iOS; we never receive your biometric data.
• The Ward (harassment blocklist) is stored only on your device, in storage shared with Pitaka's call and message filter extensions. It is never synced, exported or sent anywhere.
• AI insights use Apple's on-device model. Your data is not sent to us or to any AI service.

iCloud sync

If you are signed in to iCloud, Pitaka saves your data to your private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit. It is tied to your Apple ID and protected by Apple. We have no access to it and cannot read, recover or delete it. Apple's privacy policy applies to iCloud. Deleting all data in Pitaka also removes the iCloud copy.

Export and import

Local data in the Guild lets you export your data as a plain JSON file and import one back. The file is not encrypted. It is yours to store and share carefully. The Ward list and PIN are never included.

Information that leaves your device

• Purchases. Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to confirm your Pro status. RevenueCat receives a random app user ID, your purchase receipt and basic device and app information. It does not receive your financial data.
• Ads. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Pitaka asks Google for non-personalised ads only, so ads are not tailored to your interests or to data from other apps and sites. Google may still collect device identifiers, IP address and ad interaction data to deliver, limit and measure ads. Pro removes ads. See Google's policies at policies.google.com/privacy.
• Exchange rates. When you convert currencies, Pitaka asks api.frankfurter.dev for current rates. The request names currencies only. It carries none of your financial data.
• Notifications. Your reminders and alerts are scheduled on your device. They are not sent through any Pitaka server.
• Photos. If you tap Save to Photos on a victory card, Pitaka adds the image to your library. It does not read your photos.

What we do not do

We do not collect your name or email, sell your data, build advertising profiles of you ourselves, or run analytics that track what you do in the app.

Your choices

• Turn off notifications, iCloud, Face ID and Photos access in iOS Settings.
• Export your data, or delete all data from Local data in the Guild.
• Deleting the app removes local data. Data in iCloud stays until you delete it in Pitaka or in iCloud settings.
• Subscriptions are managed in your Apple ID settings.

Children

Pitaka is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Security

Your data is protected by iOS, the Keychain and iCloud. No method is perfectly secure. Use a device passcode and the app PIN, and keep your exports safe.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
